Philosopher George Santayana once said that “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” While uttered often enough to have become a cliche over the years, these words take on a particularly chilling meaning when read from a plaque at the Auschwitz concentration camp where over a million people were murdered by the Nazis during WWII.
